The 2017 Natural Products Expo: Our Top 5 Picks

Naturals Products Expo? Don’t Mind If We Do.

Once a year, The Natural Products Expo graces the Anaheim Convention Center with the best and brightest brands in the health and wellness industry. The convention features every fathomable thing (literally everything) in the health and wellness world –everything from teas and gluten-free muffins, to coconut oil mouthwash, to protein powders, and even beauty products. With over 470,000 square feet of exhibition space, and over 3,000 companies exhibiting, it was QUITE the spectacle! We walked over 4 miles through the convention center’s halls during the half day we were there. With that said, we had an amazing time meeting a bunch of new people, trying and tasting new products, but most of all, it was exciting for us to put a face to each brand. And, hey, the 15lb bag of free samples we left with wasn’t half-bad either. After a week-long of sampling, we’ve decided on our top 5 products of the 2017 Natural Foods Expo.

1) Pines Wheatgrass Powder

A well-known vasodilator (a blood vessel dilator), wheatgrass contains a concentrated source of nutrients. It contains vitamin A, vitamin C, and vitamin E, iron, calcium, magnesium, and amino acids. Pines has been around since the 1940s and is the longest standing wheatgrass manufacturer in the USA, which gives us reason to believe they know what they’re doing. The powder is easily dissolved into water and gave us a quick boost of energy – the perfect natural pre-workout drink. We loved the taste, especially mixed in with some beet juice, apple cider vinegar, and honey!

 2) MacroLife Naturals MacroMeal Vegan Protein Powder

Hands down, the best tasting protein powder we’ve ever tried. And it’s vegan! MacroLife Naturals recently pulled their energy bars from the market and made a significant jump into the protein powder market. This decision proved incredibly fruitful as they recently won the Delicious Living Supplement Award for Best Nutritional Powder –an award previously held by by Vega for the last 4 years. The vegan protein comes from peas – a hearty 25g. Vegans and non-vegans alike, grab some of this stuff. You’ll be happy you did.

3) Kava King Lateral Root Powder

Kava, generally consumed as a tea, has been known to relieve anxiety, restlessness, sleeplessness, and stress-related symptoms, such as muscle tensions or spasms. It’s essentially a natural muscle relaxant. Kava King makes easily dissolvable powders you can toss into some water and drink on the go. The taste was a little bitter, but shortly after drinking the mixture, I actually felt a lot more relaxed, and a bit euphoric. For someone who is experimenting with alternative medicines for anxiety, we absolutely recommend some Kava King Kava!

4) New Chapter Multi-Vitamin

This is pretty much a multi-vitamin on steroids, pun intended. Traditional multi-vitamins have the basic nutrients and minerals, but nothing more. New Chapter takes it a step further with their addition of antioxidant and anti-inflammatory foods like oregano, turmeric, ginger, elderberry, maca root, and astragalus. So, you’re getting the benefit of a traditional multi-vitamin plus so much more. Their pill is easy to swallow and can be taken without food. WOO!

5) Traditional Medicinals Tulsi Tea with Ginger

Commonly known as “holy basil” Tulsi’s adaptogenic qualities help the body fight stress, and aging. And, you’ll benefit from the ginger’s anti-inflammatory properties, too. The blend of the teas creates an ahhhmazing taste that is earthy and floral, but not overpoweringly so. At FPH we love our teas, and we give this one an A+. Try it with a little honey and lemon!

Well, there’s our Top 5. It was hard to pick only five, since we truly appreciated every product we tried or tasted last. Thanks again to everyone who we met, shared their stories with us, and offered their time at the convention to make it such an incredible day. Until next year!
